Regarding Harry Potter alternatives: I wasn’t a fan of Potter, but I quite enjoyed Stranger by Max Frei, (first book in the Labyrinths of Echo series). It’s lesser known, and I’m not sure if all of them are translated to english, but it checks the “hidden magical world” and “discovering magic” checkboxes pretty well. Also, explorations of cultural differences between the two worlds I found pretty fun. The vibe is different, maybe a little more surreal and cynical.
My favorite part of the Brass Is Dead episode was when Brass died (not really).
Anyways, I felt embarrassed when I mixed up the authors for Goosebumps and Animorphs on the last episode. I haven’t held either of those books in about 20 years, and they were usually next to each other in the classroom library. I didn’t read either of them. Now I’m always going to be known on Z&M as the guy that gets the author’s name wrong.
Thanks for letting me know the Warriorcats audiobooks were on Youtube. I did have a Percy Jackson phase when I was growing up, and that has a lot of Greek mythology – which we all know is kinda zooey.
