This was a really enjoyable episode. I love how giddy Brass was about the prospect of what can be unearthed in the Epstein investigation.
Re: Starting the episode talking about Aki’s accent. Honestly, it’s really interesting to listen to the unique ways people speak. It all tells a story of where they come from and where they’re at currently. Accent, dialect, phrasing… No wonder I was drawn to linguistics originally.
Re: Trump blowing Bubba. Honestly, seeing “Epstein,” “Putin,” and “Trump blowing Bubba” in the same sentence was not on my 2025 bingo card. 😀 This story has so many twists and turns that even Agatha Christie would be jealous.
Re: Employers lying, cheating, and being generally awful to their employees. This feels so foreign to me since unions are so prevalent here. If an employer would be doing things like secretly cutting pay or anything like that, they’d have a strike at their hands.
Re: Brass’s manufacturing job. I think this essentially shows two things: 1. Corporations do not care how diligent, hardworking or loyal you are. 2. A promise that isn’t from a contract or some other form of official writing is not a promise. Here’s hoping for better working environments for Brass in the future!
